About Robinton
Recording Artist, Composer, and Evoker of Imagined Worlds

I’ve always been interested in the life surrounding a story:
what its people remember, what they fear, what they celebrate, and what they sing songs about.
That curiosity led me through folklore, medieval history, invented languages, and all the strange little details that can make somewhere fictional feel entirely real. Music became the way I explored those questions—and, eventually, the way I learned to answer them.
A film, novel, game, or record each creates a different relationship with its audience, but the essential challenge remains the same:
The music has to make the experience more vivid, more specific, and harder to leave behind.
Sometimes that means a score guiding an audience through a scene. Sometimes it’s a theme that gives a game its identity, a companion album that opens another door into a novel, or a record that finds someone through a pair of headphones on a late-night flight. Whatever form it takes, I want the music to do more than set a mood.
I want it to make people believe.

I started out playing in rock bands and producing punk records in basements, which may not sound like the obvious path to orchestral scores, film production, and companion albums for novels. For me, though, the throughline is clear: every project begins with finding the sound that makes it unmistakably itself.
Today, my work moves between creating records of my own; composing, producing, and editing music for film and television through Joy Music House, which I co-founded; and collaborating with authors and game designers through World Tree Studios.
Outside the studio, I’m usually buried in medieval history, inventing languages, wandering through the woods, or rolling dice around a table. It all finds its way back into the music sooner or later.
